Three Days of Highly Informative Talks

27 - 31 July 2025

Resort Information

The 2025 ATTA Conference is being held at the 4 Star Tangalooma Island Resort on Queensland's beautiful Moreton Island.

Beginning with a Pre-Conference cocktail evening and bonfire on Sunday 27 July 2025 from 7pm; The conference proper is running from 28 - 31 July, with a Brisbane field trip on the 29th.

The Australian Timber Trainers Association (ATTA) is a national network of trainers and assessors in the forest and forest products industry. Members come from all states and territories in Australia, and represent private registered training organisations, TAFE colleges, partnerships and industry consultancies.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is elected each year at the AGM held at the annual ATTA Workshop.

President Andy Cusack

Andy has been involved in forestry training, specialising in Tree Falling and OH&S for 38 years. He is also a founding member and inaugural president of ATTA.

Vice President Rod Stebbing

As CEO of National Workplace Services Group Pty Ltd (NWSG) RTO 22148, Rod brings to ATTA his knowledge and experience as a provider of vocational training in park and forest environments. Rod is also principal of his own company Emtrain Fire and Community Safety Pty Ltd.

Secretary / Treasurer Sandy Kanahs

Sandy is the CEO of LITA Training located in the Green Triangle Region. She has developed her skills in the VET Sector over many years with a strong background of administration and finance.

Director Kevin Nunn

Kevin has worked in the timber industry for over 25 years in areas such as harvesting, production faller, machine operator before becoming a trainer in the industry. Kevin is currently a Trainer/Assessor for TAFE Gippsland.

Director Louise Kinloch

Louise comes with a wealth of knowledge within the Vocational Education sector, with over 20 years industry experience in Education. Louise is the General Manager - Training for National Timber & Hardware Association (NTHA). She holds an Executive Master of Business, as well as a bachelor’s degree in vocational education and training.

Director Marianne St Clair

Managing Director and Senior Research Fellow at Simbani Research Pty Ltd

Director Rick Birch

Rick has been involved in the Forest Industries in Tasmania for over 35 years. As a Forester he has been involved in Forest Harvesting and Haulage, Fire management and Silviculture. Rick has been a forest industries trainer /assessor for the past 27 years and currently works for Timber Training Creswick in Tasmania. Rick also has his own company RB Forestry Training Services and works across the whole state. He has also worked on forest operations as a machine operator as well as a tree faller.

Director Michael Quirk

Michael has been involved in the forest industry for the past 30 decades. He was formerly employed by HVP plantations for 13 years as a District forester managing Harvesting crews and road and track construction. Michael is currently employed by Padgett Group based in Myrtleford where he is the Operations manager of a cable logging crew and steep thinning crew. Michael has been a trainer and assessor for the past 8 years with Timber training Creswick
